Log Home Construction Guides

For years, we've been talking about the "Logs Only" approach to log home building and how much money you can save when compared to building with kits. During that time, hundreds of quality homes have successfully been built with our logs.

As we have grown, we have deliberately avoided publishing detailed instructions on how to build with our logs because we've found that each builder or do-it-yourselfer we talked with had his or her own idea of how to do things right. We've respected their opinions and have learned that there are a wide variety of approaches that work just fine.

Corner construction guides for log home building

Still, the numbers of requests for guidance on how to build corners keep mounting because sometimes it is a bit difficult to visualize how they go together. With these requests in mind, we are publishing these consctruction guides to building corners with our logs.

Good luck on your project. If there's anything we can do at this end, or if you'd like us to put you in touch with an experienced builder, please feel free to call.

As you read the guides, please keep the following things in mind:

  • The Guides are conceptual in its approach and takes into consideration the consensus of the builders we deal with. They are specifically designed to help you visualize how corners are constructed. They are not meant to be construction manuals and recognize that many buiders have their own time-proven variatioins of the approaches shown.

  • While many home owners have successfully stacked their own logs, we highly recommend that constuction be done by an experience and qualified log home builder.

  • Our logs are very dry and, therefore, lighter weight than most. However, they can still be heavy and bulky. Also, the tools used in log home construction can be dangerous. So, please take your time and always pay attention to safety on the job site.
