I love your products and would like to place an order. How do I do this?

There are a few different ways to go about this. If you have never spoken to us before, and haven’t met any builders or dealers that promote our products locally, simply get in contact with us directly by phone, e-mail, or using the information request form on this site. If you have already been in touch with a builder or dealer that we have referred you to, you should communicate with them and have them place the order for you.

Can I order directly from Glu-Lam-Log, or do I have go through a dealer?

Over the years, we have developed a fairly extensive builder/dealer network across the country. When you contact us, we will generally try to put you in touch with an experienced builder/dealer in your area. He or she will help guide you through the process of selecting the materials that are best for you, and will communicate with us to place your order.

Are you willing to work with me personally?

We don't have dealers in every locale and we realize that some clients have already selected a builder. If you've got a problem accessing our products, give us a call. We'll find a way to help you work things out.

Why should I go through a builder/dealer suggested by Glu-Lam-Log, rather than dealing with your company directly and using the builder of my choice?

It all boils down to familiarity and experience with our products. Like any other process, building a log home becomes more comfortable with experience. Working with a builder/dealer that has used our products in the past will result in bypassing a lot of potential headaches, and make the entire construction process go more smoothly. Their familiarity with our products will also help to ensure that you are selecting materials that best fit your project. Frequently, you can also save money by combining your shipment with others being ordered by the local Glu-Lam-Log representative.

How is my order processed? Do my materials come from a warehouse?

Glu-Lam-Log is not a volume shop. We ensure the highest quality by custom manufacturing each and every order for each and every customer. While the materials used to produce your order may be in our inventory at the time you place your order; the finished product is not manufactured or milled until an order is placed.

From the time I place my order, how long can I expect to wait until my materials are ready for delivery?

Since we custom manufacture every order, lead-time is somewhat a function of what you order. For example, we need more time to do laminated logs that have a cedar interior or exterior lamination. As a rule, however, you’re pretty safe if you figure it'll take four to six weeks from the time we receive a deposit to the time your material would be ready for shipment.

I’m in a bit of a rush. Is there any way to arrange for rushed production and delivery?

While we can’t make any promises, there’s a pretty good chance of being able to work something out. Usually, for every person who is in a rush for delivery, there is someone out there who would just as soon delay the issue. By keeping in touch regularly with our clients, we can usually juggle our schedule to everyone's satisfaction.

Do you have a standard price list?

We keep a current price list, but do not generally distribute it. Although wood prices have been relatively stable lately, there have been times when it has varied significantly and abruptly. Rather than issuing an inflated price list to protect ourselves against fluctuations, we've found it's fairer to protect clients by pricing based on market conditions. If you need prices, just ask for them. If you want to lock in prices you can do so at any time with a deposit.

What's the average cost per square foot for a home using your logs?

A good question….and one that is asked very often. However, asking for the average cost per square foot is like asking, "What's the average price of a car?" Before a builder can respond accurately he'd need answers to questions like: How high are the walls? What's the pitch of the roof? Is it an open beamed or trussed ceiling? Is it a rectangle or are there wings that extend out? Etc. Etc. It's just amazing how these things can change the overall cost of a home. Engaging a competent builder in a discussion of these options will provide you with valuable planning insight that will help you live within your budget.

I’ve already figured out an estimate. If wood prices go up, will my order cost more?

This really depends on how far along you are with your project. Due to the volatile wood market, prices are subject to change until we have received a deposit for your order. Once you have placed down payment, however, you lock in the current prices.

Do you require a down payment or deposit?

Yes, we do. Our terms are 50% down with the balance payable at time of delivery. Your deposit earns you a spot on the production schedule and locks in the current pricing. We occasionally modify our terms based on individual circumstances.

Will there be sales tax added to my Glu-Lam order?

No! We do not have a sales tax in Montana, nor does Montana have any reciprocal sales tax agreements with other states.

How do I pay for my order?

In most cases, we accept payment by cashier’s check or money order. More and more people seem to prefer wire transfers.

Do you accept credit cards?

No, not at this time. So far, we only get a handful of requests each year. People tend not to buy log home packages on credit cards. We re-evaluate the advisability of credit cards periodically. If you've got a strong opinion on the subject, let us know.
