Log Cabin Siding Transforms Modular Homes Here's another modular home that arrived with typical "Plane Jane" brown masonite lap-siding that was installed by the manufacturer. Here's the recipe that produced the makeover you see in the before and after pictures:
1. Remove old masonite siding to provide a flat nailing surface.

2. Prefinish 2000 linear feet of Glu-Lam-Log Standard 7.3" Western Red Cedar siding with protective wood finish according to manufacturer's instructions, taking the small amount of extra time necessary to seal the back of the siding.

3. Outside mitre and install rough sawn cedar corner trim boards to create a posted corner look.

4. Install cedar trim around windows. 5. Apply siding to wall with coated finish nails, taking advantage of the curvature of the wood to help hide nails by toe nailing downward slightly on upper courses of the logs and toe nailing upward on lower courses of the walls.
6. Step back and enjoy! When properly prepared the modular home should resemble a log cabin.
