TPI (Timber Products Inspection) stamp of approval on a Glu-Lam-Log laminated log
Every one of our laminated logs bears a TPI stamp to certify that it meets structural lam beam spefications. Records show that we consistently exceed minimum specifications by a wide margin.

TPI Core Sample test on laminated logs
Individual core samples are broken under pressure at the lamination line to assure that the wood breaks before the glue bond fails.

TPI lamination test on Glu-Lam-Log laminated logs
To simulate hostile environments, test blocks, taken from laminated logs, are super saturated in water and then baked in a convection oven. The lamination bond is then inspected to assure it hasn’t failed.

Although we have always adhered to rigid self imposed quality standards, we also rely on the services of Timber Products Inspection, Inc. (TPI) to formalize and monitor our quality assurance program.

As one of the larger independent testing agencies in the Pacific Northwest, TPI is vested with the authority to inspect wood products for compliance with nationally accepted standards. By meeting TPI requirements, Glu-Lam-Log’s products satisfy all of the major building codes in the United States.

As part of the program, TPI identifies required quality control procedures, specifies necessary test equipment, and monitors our manufacturing process and production output for compliance. Shear testing of core samples taken from laminated cants and examination of test blocks, which have been exposed to extreme environmental conditions, confirm that our laminated logs consistently exceed minimum specifications by a wide margin.

Frequent unannounced inspections, which focus on wood grade, moisture content, and conformance to precise milling tolerances, provide further assurance that our laminated logs will perform as well, or better, than we claim. TPI records will attest to the fact that, 80%, or more, of our logs exceed the grade claimed.
